Chemical Storage

Proper chemical storage is necessary to minimize potential hazards associated with leaks, spills, and accidental mixing of incompatible chemicals.  While simply eliminating chemical mixing is always the best preventative measure for avoiding reactions, this is often impossible to accomplish.  Therefore choosing the proper storage tank is critical.

Fiberglass is non-corrosive which makes the substrate a perfect option for storing chemicals.  Our fiberglass tanks are manufactured in a unique automated manner which creates a smooth interior finish with a consistent wall thickness.

A Chemical Tank Questionnaire is available to help design the perfect storage system for your needs.

Chemical Spill

Chemical spills are unpredictable and dangerous since any number of chemical combinations can lead to hazardous reactions.  The first step to properly disposing of spilled chemicals is to dilute the substance with excessive amounts of water.  Typically a 20:1 ratio of water to chemical is required and the diluted fluid is still not acceptable for common drain dispersal.

In labs or offices with significant chemical volumes, an emergency spill drain and storage tank is a responsible preventative measure.  The storage tank not only needs to be made of a non-corrosive material like fiberglass, but it must be able to handle large capacities to support 20 times the amount of spilled chemical in water volume.

Other Applications

Chemical storage can include a wide range of biological and environmental questions and concerns.  For more information on a specific chemical storage application)s) not covered within the Containment Solutions site, contact a sales representative today or visit our contact page and submit your request.

A Chemical Tank Questionnaire is available to help design the perfect storage system for your needs.

Chemical tanks have special operating instructions.  Refer to the chemical acknowledgment form provided upon order for special instructions which include but may not be limited to:

  • Continuous agitation
  • 72 hour clean and rinse requirement
  • Maintain at least 20% water in tank with max 5% chemical concentration
